SSV Community Digest — Issue #1

Welcome to this first issue of the SSV Community Digest.

Last week can be summarized as a significant step forward for SSV. First, several CEXes, such as Binance completed the transition from CDT to SSV. Then, others, such as Gate.io, AOFEX, and MEXC followed quickly, with SSV finally taking its spot on Coinmarketcap.com.

With SSV nearly replacing CDT, the DAO can finally vote using its native token. We saw new proposals, such as adding SSV liquidity to Uniswap discussed on the forum, and the first batch of DAO Partner Program and Grant votes are ready for your pick.

Speaking of Uniswap, the first SSV/ETH liquidity pool was initialized and is waiting for more liquidity.

Now that SSV is circulating, we need better hardware wallet support. BenAffleck kicked off a discussion on GitHub to add SSV token support for Ledger Live. Go ??-vote.

Alon Muroch from SSV Labs brought together a colorful group of people for the first SSV conference in Lisbon, talking about the future of eth and SSV — a must-watch.

On the Ethereum side of things, Ben Edgington published What’s New in Eth2–22 October 2021. Ben also mentioned the efforts around SSV. He also expressed his worries about the current state of node upgrade readiness for Altair. Please update.

Speaking of SSV, the Obol Network finally de-clocked giving us early insights into their current work. Great to see more players coming into the SSV space. This is a major validation of the importance of SSV in decentralizing staking.

???????? Community Asks

We saw a lot of questions on the tokenomics of SSV around circulating supply and market cap. The team around SSV will soon provide additional information and roadmap insights. Still, we can already find great answers in this CDT -> SSV article published by AdamEfr from the BloxStaking.

?? DAO Updates

?? DAO Grants Vote — The vote aggregates two grant requests submitted by Aditya Asgaonkar from the Ethereum Foundation and Stefa2kEth from Stereum.
? Voting is open till Oct 27, 2021, 11:00 PM.

?? Staking

The SSV Labs team released a major version of their app with seedless support finally available. Ensure to upgrade the app and the KeyVault to be ready for the Altair upgrade on the 27th of October.

Check out their great how-to videos on how to go seedless with BloxStaking.

????? Tools & Code

?? Yorick from CryptoManufaktur mentioned the Wagyu Key Gen during a discussion around seedless support and how to create the necessary Keystore files offline.

Wagyu Key Gen

Wagyu Key Gen is a GUI application providing functionality to the eth2.0-deposit-cli. It is a React app running in Electron. Wagyu Key Gen can be downloaded from here.

?? Videos & Podcasts

?? The guys from Bankless spoke about SSV during their weekly roll-up session (at timestamp 29:56).

cSSV Genesis Boost: Your First Step Into the SSV Staking Era

The SSV DAO is thrilled to kick off the cSSV Genesis Boost Campaign — a 30-day celebration of the release of the SSV Staking mainnet. This is the DAO’s way of saying thank you to the OGs who have been with us since day one, while rolling out the red carpet for the next wave of stakers ready to earn native ETH yield.

The SSV Staking thesis is about pushing the SSV token toward a new kind of rewards primitive: infrastructure. DeFi taught retail to chase APY, infra asks a more important question: where do the rewards actually come from?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Staking crypto assets involves risks, including but not limited to: (a) slashing penalties that may result in partial or total loss of staked assets due to validator misbehavior or downtime; (b) smart contract risk, including the possibility of bugs or vulnerabilities in the protocol or infrastructure software; (c) illiquidity risk, as staked assets may be subject to unbonding periods during which they cannot be transferred or sold; (d) regulatory risk, as the legal and regulatory treatment of staking activities and related tokens varies by jurisdiction and is subject to change; and (e) protocol risk, including changes to the Ethereum network's consensus rules or reward structure. SSV Network does not guarantee any particular level of staking rewards. Rewards are determined by the Ethereum protocol and are subject to variability based on network conditions. Past reward rates are not indicative of future performance. cSSV tokens are receipt tokens representing a user's staked SSV position. They are not investment contracts, securities, or financial instruments. cSSV tokens do not entitle holders to returns beyond the protocol-defined rewards attributable to the underlying staked assets. This website does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any securities in any jurisdiction.
