SSV & Compose: FAQs

Learn everything about Compose — the ZK-powered based app by SSV Labs that unifies Ethereum rollups. This FAQ covers how it works, validator roles, token plans, and how Compose restores seamless, atomic interoperability across chains.

Basics

Q. Who is building Compose?
A. SSV DAO core contributor SSV Labs is building Compose as a first of its kind based application, extending the ecosystem’s long‑standing mission of building critical Ethereum‑native infrastructure.

Q. What is the connection between Compose and SSV?
A. SSV Network is the home of Compose. Validators running through the SSV protocol can opt into Compose (moving toward permissionless participation), earning staking + rewards for securing cross‑rollup composability.

Q. What will happen to the SSV token?
A. $SSV remains the native token of ssv.network. Compose still requires building before any new tokenomics; the DAO is exploring how SSV may be incorporated into future economics and incentives (subject to DAO approvals).

For Validators & SSV

Q. How can Ethereum validators participate?
A. Validators (initially via SSV Network) can opt into the Shared Publisher architecture of Compose, adding a new service for them on top of staking, MEV‑boost, based sequencing, and preconfirmations. The Compose validator set aims to move to a permissionless architecture in the future.

Q. What do validators get in return?
A. Staking rewards + additional yield from powering synchronous composability; the goal is to route interop fees back to validators/Ethereum instead of third‑party bridges.

Q. How does this relate to SSV’s mission?
A. It’s a natural extension: SSV helped decentralize staking via DVT; Compose lets the future-proof validator set orchestrate the multi‑chain economy, while staying aligned with Ethereum’s neutrality and resilience.

Q. Will validators do more than attest/propose?
A. Yes, validators are positioned to evolve across roles (MEV‑boost, sequencing for based rollups, pre‑confs, ZK proving in the near future, and now shared publishing).

Q. Does Compose change SSV priorities?
A. No, SSV Network remains a priority (e.g., the upcoming Anchor client mainnet). Compose extends SSV’s role and economics, not replacing them.

Q. Is there slashing/economic security for SP operators?
A. Details are being designed and are subject to DAO approval; the docs flag economics and decentralization as active design areas.

About Tokens, Economics & Governance

Q. Will Compose launch a new token?
A. Not announced. $SSV remains as SSV Network’s native token, and the SSV DAO is exploring how $SSV could be incorporated into future economics for Compose. Compose aims to expand SSV’s addressable market by creating validator-powered services beyond DVT, which may strengthen token utility and demand through DAO-approved incentives. Nothing would be final without SSV DAO approval.

Q. How do interop fees flow?
A. The design goal is to route interop fees to rollups and validators (via SP) rather than external bridges, bringing value back to ETH. The Compose team predicts $80M – 100M/yr in new fees (ecosystem‑level).

Q. How does the SSV community and DAO benefit?
A. Additional revenues attract validators, more fees to SSV DAO, and less reliance on incentives as organic economics grow, subject to DAO approvals.

Q. How will pricing compare to LP/intents bridges?
A. TBD; the UX and risk profile differ (atomic vs async). Fee pricing is called out as an open design topic.
