SSV Community Digest — Issue #13

By Ben Affleck

Hello🙋‍♂️ ssv.network community. Round 2 is over.🏁 We raised $10 Million💰, reached 10k validators📈, almost 3k operators👨‍🔧, 51.93% APR💸, outstanding Grant requests💭, hiring proposals🤝, official SSV spec📝, lots of international content 🇨🇳 🇷🇺 🇺🇦, and updates to the ssv.explorer. A lot to digest! Happy reading.😍

The ssv.network raised $10 Million to transform Ethereum 2.0.💰 Period.
We received excellent media coverage from Coindesk.com and others👇

📰 “ETH Staking Startup ssv.network Raises $10M as Ethereum ‘Merge’ Inches Closer” | 📰 “ssv.network injects $10M in ETH 2.0 staking infrastructure” | 📰 “SSV Network Bags $10M From DAO Partners to Scale ETH 2.0 Staking

If you’re new🌟 to the ssv.network or want a quick refresher🧠 of our value proposition, the team released a fantastic whiteboard video🔴 titled ‘The Evolution of ETH Staking — Distributed Validator Technology Explained’. 👈This is the pitch everyone needs to learn about.👩‍🏫

By crossing the 10’000 validators mark🏁, we also marked the end of round 2️⃣ of ‘Primus’, our incentivized testnet. The reward calculations have been released, and rounds 1️⃣ and 2️⃣ are already history. ✈ Off to rounds 3️⃣, 4️⃣, 5️⃣❗

🥇 First, congratulations to your top Operators in round 1, CryptoManufaktur, Allnodes, DAppNode, Huobi Pool, and OneInfra. You deserve it.👋 Let’s see who joins the party next.👯‍♀️

❗ A validator staking 100 SSV generates 570% more rewards than a non-staking validator. 👨‍🏫 For example, given the current network parameters, 1 Validator + 100 SSV would result in 51.93% APR.😱 That’s one hell🔥 of a deal. Please make your own simulation🧮 on our testnet calculator.

💡 The SSV Token Explainer Series — Part 1 explains all those facts, along with a brief description of how to stake ssv in our Primus Testnet. 👆 Another great ‘How to Stake ETH in SSV Network’ comes from DragonStake, making it easy for you to join.✅ But we don’t stop here:🤚 Dean#4242 made an updated video guide showcasing the process to set up a validator.

📊 If you need more evidence that this is a great project to check out Hellman’s analysis report of the SSV incentivized testnet.🎥

🌎🌍🌏 For our international community, there is great new content. For example, the Chinese 🇨🇳 website Blockbeats released an analysis on Eth2 staking, not without mentioning SSV. Also, the guys from CRYPTOBASE | КРИПТОБАЗА made a great video in Russian language discussion on the ssv.network.🇷🇺 🇺🇦

🦧 If you don’t care about facts and data and just believe in memes, this might convince you 😉:

🤗 Now that we’re close to 3000Operators, it’s time to introduce🤝 some of them to you. In the latest episode🎬 of our famous ‘Know your Operator’ series on YouTube, we had the guys from Frobole live on-air🔴. In addition to the video series, we released our first written✍ KYO coming from HashQuark, a staking service provider under HashKey. A great read!📖

🚦 The DAO also had to decide about two new applications for the verified operator labels.👨‍🔧 Unfortunately😪, neither the vote of Ahbaay nor ValiDiter reached the minimum required quorum. That’s why it is so important to cast your votes.👆✔

😛 Also, with the first HIRING proposal vote for gigashad#5602 (Shad), we kicked off a very controversial discussion🤼‍♂️. That’s why the team and Shad are hosting an 📢AMA session this Thursday live on discord. You can send all your questions and concerns on Reddit.

Talking about votes🔴, the team released the first DAO Grants Video with AUDIT.one about their ongoing grant request to implement SSV into the AUDIT.one ETH2-Staking Pool.👀

🥈 For the second time in a row, Ben Edgington reported on SSV (aka DVT) in his ‘What’s new in Eth2’ newsletter. This time he mentioned a great Reddit post from u/superphiz on how DVT solutions like SSV and Obol relate to Rocket Pool and Lido. A must-read for everyone.📖

🥇 Finally, Alon Muroch announced a great step forward in standardizing SSV/DVT with the ‘Ethereum Distributed Validator Specification’ release.

Ethereum Distributed Validator Specification

Distributed Validators (DV) are a technique for distributing the job of an Ethereum validator among a set of distributed nodes to improve resilience (safety, liveness, or both) as compared to running a validator client on a single machine.
