It’s all about the community, they said. The DAO proposal to have the community Ambassadors and Moderators as Partners of the ssv.network passed the vote, which makes us proud🥂.
Speaking of the DAO in action, the proposal to add $500k of SSV and $500k of ETH to the SSV/ETH uniswap pool was voted successfully🚦, waiting to be executed by the DAO multi-sig committee.
The DAO can’t get a rest😴. A new partner proposal is currently discussed on the forum, ready for voting soon. Chainlayer.io, DSRV, Infstones, SkillZ, and Edi Sinovčić (CEO of ShardLabs) want to become partners of the SSV DAO. Questions❓ Take the chance and comment on the proposal.

👩💻👨💻The SSV core developers made great progress on the operator client and released version 0.1.4 that finally includes slashing protection and significant network improvements. Operators, please 🆙grade. This comes right in time before the incentivized testnet will start in a few weeks (ETA TBA).
Alon Muroch from Blox had a busy time promoting SSV📢. He was a guest at #ETHCC talking with SkillZ about the SSV solution for trustless staking. Alon was also involved in a Talk with Alex Melikhov, the CEO of Equilibrium, and Samy Karim from Binance during the virtual Crypto Fest 2021.

Greyhound#1921 asked why solo validators are getting noticeably fewer rewards after Altair and if we can improve it to get back to the pre-Altair level?
Ambassador fod#8970 confirmed that this is expected after Altair and provided us with a good Reddit summary post on Altair income.

helnkay#9359 asked about the benefits of voting with the SSV token and why one needs to vote. BenAffleck#9383 (that’s me😀) took the chance to provide insights and a set of documents to learn more about the DAO:
“This is the concept of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). A DAO has no central leadership. Decisions get made from the bottom-up, governed by the community. This is all organized around a specific set of rules.
Have a look at our SSV DAO guidelines. If you look at all the important proposals DAO members can vote on; you’ll see how important it is.”

🤔Do I need to run a client to become a Validator?
I1OFF#5563 and other members want to know what they need to run locally to become a Validator. Yorick#0990 puts the answer straight:
[It’s all] run by the operators. The basic design is that someone who owns a validator — the actual thing backed by 32 ETH — splits its signing key, and gives one piece each to a node operator. The [Node Operators] run the execution and consensus clients, and code that comes to consensus on the key fragments and signs attestations.

📢 The Operator Getting Started guide received important updates through a PR by Amir#6089 after an important finding of Yura#6585 on a mismatch in various documentation about the whitelisting of UDP and TCP ports. Have a look at the updated guide and correct your setup if needed.
📢 This man must be very busy: Again, Yorick from CryptoManufaktur updated his experimental high-availability SSV Node deployment repository to include the latest learnings. If you want to get serious as an SSV operator, this HA implementation is an excellent idea.
